Eating berries daily is not only a delicious choice of snack but a very nutritious one too.  Each berry hosts an abundance of nutritional benefits that have been proven to benefit your health, especially during the colder months.

Here are our top three reasons to eat more berries to stay healthy this winter:

  • Strawberries and Raspberries are a great source of Vitamin C, an essential vitamin to support a healthy immune system. Eating a cup of strawberries will give you your RDI of vitamin C, that is more than eating an orange! Eating a cup of raspberries will give you half of the RDI for vitamin C.
  • Blueberries contain antioxidants that can help to keep your immune system strong, this antioxidant is a type of flavonoid called anthocyanin. Research has shown that eating foods rich in flavonoids can help fight off respiratory infections and the winter cold.
  • Blackberries contain Vitamin A, A recent study conducted by the Journal of Periodontal Research found that blackberries had shown to have antibacterial properties as well as anti-inflammatory and anti-viral effects.
