We were delighted to welcome reception year pupils from Salford Priors C. of E. Primary School to our Salford Priors Packhouse site to help them with their food miles project.
Throughout the day, the pupils learnt about where our fruit comes from, the farm to fork journey, got to see our berries being packed and how they are transported from the farms to us and from us to our customers. The final ended the day with a colouring in project where the children were encouraged to try each berry and colour their favourite one in.
The children had lots of brilliant questions throughout the day, and we were delighted to hear from their teach that the pupils enjoy the following most:
🍓 Trying the fruit and getting to take some home.
👋 That the people in the packhouse waved back to them.
🔊 The pallet trucks running around in the factory, beeping their horns.
🫐 How much fruit they had seen in one place.
🎁 Seeing the fruit get packed.
Well done to our wonderful colleagues Ionut, Imogen and Silvia at our Salford’s site for organising and overseeing the visit, and to the wider team for making this an enjoyable and memorable experience for the pupils. I think it’s safe to say it was enjoyed by all!
